Hours later, Rosu and I are being dragged along by Renze as we struggle through the heat. Rosu is a limp pile of fur thrown over my shoulder, panting loudly in my ear. Fur is stuck to my face, chest, and neck, and the only thing moving me forward is Renze’s hand on my wrist, pulling.

“Gods,” I complain, hating that I’m doing it but also completely miserable. “Wherever I’m originally from can’t be a sandy place. This is fucking awful.”

Up ahead of us, Jet’s shirt is drenched in sweat, but he turns and smiles. “You need a carry?” He flashes me a cheeky grin as I point my finger at him.

“It wasn’t that long ago you were complaining about the heat back home.”

Jet’s smile grows bigger as he stops. We catch up to him in moments, and then he’s towering over me, smirking down from his superior height. I could almost cry at the shadow his body casts over mine. He leans down, brushing my sweaty hair away from my neck on the opposite side as Rosu. “I want even more heat than this, Achaia. Do you think you can handle that?”

A whine leaves my throat as Rosu sits upright in my arms and licks all over Jet’s face with a happy whine.

Jet sighs. “Why do I get the feeling he’s gonna ruin a lot of sexy moments for me in the future?”

I point down at my body, at the clothes plastered to every inch of me. “This is sexy?”

Jet growls appreciatively as his dark eyes scan my figure. He licks his lips as Renze watches us with a smirk. “Everything about you is sexy,” he murmurs, reaching out to pinch my nipple lightly.

I find myself wishing there was a bed somewhere close by.
